Torches Waived on Hilltops throughout Israel marking the new month as was done by the Sanhedrin:

The event seemed quite simple; waving a pair of torches on a hilltop just after sunset. But it symbolized an essential part of the Sanhedrin’s activities, announcing the calendar to the communities outside of Israel. The Sanhedrin initiated the event by receiving and interviewing two witnesses on Mount Zion. They then signaled Joshua Wander who stood ready on the Mount of Olives. Wander lit two torches and waved them in the specified manner.

‘For thousands of years, our nation has sufficed with one Festival of Lights; Hanukkah,” Wander told Israel365 News. “Now, we are bringing back the true Jewish tradition of having lights every month. This is an essential sign of our return from the exile.”

“There were about ten locations around the country that participated, from the black mountains of Eilat in the south to Katzrin in the Golan,” Davidoff told Israel365 News. “Some people lit torches without notifying us. There is an awakening going on. Like one fire lights another, the torches are uniting Israel and hopefully the Galut (exile) in the service of God.”

Rabbi Weiss said, “The calendar begins in Jerusalem, where, according to Jewish tradition, the creation of the world began. That is why the Sanhedrin in Jerusalem can establish the months.”  The Sanhedrin has, in fact, received requests from other nations, including Pashtun in India and local Muslims, to take part in this effort to reset the calendar.

According to the Torah, the new month is established by witnesses testifying before the Sanhedrin, or high court, that they have seen the new moon. Setting the new month by witnesses is considered by Rashi to be the first mitzvah that the Nation of Israel received after leaving Egypt. With great spiritual meaning, establishing the calendar is far more than a convenience. It is so important that it takes precedence over the Sabbath.

Rare Hailstorm Pounds Egypt as Jews Read about that very plague in Torah:

On the first day of the New Year, the Egyptian Red Sea resort in Hurghada was hit by a hailstorm that left destruction in its wake.  Coincidentally (or not), the hailstorm hit the Egyptian town on Shabbat while Jews around the world were in synagogues, reading the section of the Torah describing the plague of hail that hit Egypt over 3,300 years ago.

Local media reported that the “quail-sized” hailstones were accompanied by lightning storms. This precisely conforms to the Biblical account of the plague of hail which mixed the elemental opposites of fire and ice.

Jewish sources predict that all of the plagues will reappear in the final Redemption but in even more powerful forms. It is written in Midrash Tanchuma, homiletic teachings collected around the fifth century, that “just as God struck the Egyptians with 10 plagues, so too He will strike the enemies of the Jewish people at the time of the Redemption.”

The Israel Bible gives a poignant explanation of why the seventh plague, a combination of fire and ice, is appropriate for the turbulent times we live in.  “The hail contains both fire and ice, yet the fire does not melt the ice and the water of the ice does not extinguish the fire.”

They are slowly starting to understand dimly. God is removing that veil that was put before their eyes.

Wait until they actually read the Book of the Revelation of Yeshua Ha’Mashiach. Then they’ll see a form of the 10 plagues of Egypt occuring, before His Second Coming.

Praying for the peace of Jerusalem and for the Prince of Peace to come back. :prayer-hands:

Muslim Arab-Israelis Explain Why They Joined Israeli Military:

Yoseph Haddad spent time with members of the Bedouin desert reconnaissance unit in a bid to find out why Arabs would choose to serve in Israel’s military.

An Arab Israeli officer, who served for nine years, explained his decision to join after two rockets fell near his home, killing two children. “When a rocket comes from Gaza or from Lebanon, it doesn’t distinguish between an Arab, a Jew, or any other person.”

He urged others in the Arab world “to come for a visit to see for themselves. I’m proud… Because I was born in this land, I was born in Israel.”

One of the soldiers, identified only as “A,” told i24NEWS: “I am from the Negev desert, where crimes take place… so I thought to myself, what will I achieve in the end?” The soldier said he left his home after being subjected to violent abuse, and entered a boarding school that was state-run. “It gave me so much and never asked for anything in exchange,” he said.  News of his recruitment in the military was not received well in his home village.

yes! they are starting to at least turn back to traditions that eventually will turn into their hearts turning back as a nation once again to rejoice in belonging to YHWH and then they will realize Who their true Messiah is!!!  exciting! thanks for sharing about the lights and calendar- so cool! i know it will take a lot to get them to devote fully heart and soul and become spiritually alive as a whole nation, but it’s a start!

Israeli Uri Geller, the famous mentalist and spoon bender (also fraud, IMHO) has declared that he can find the Ark of the Covenant.

        Someone said

Ron Wyatt found it in 1982 under Golgotha

        – Fair Use –

        ———-

But I lean towards this view below that its in a secret chamber under the Temple Mount … in one of Hal Lindsey’s older books he had a guided tour below and he saw an arrow pointing and the words “Holy of Holies” so he thinks its kept hidden in a secret chamber.

        Another person said
Perhaps it was hidden in the Temple days in a deep secret tunnel, now under the Dome of the Rock?? The Muslims will not let us dig it up. But when G-d is ready he will find a way – the earth could split open and reveal it if He chooses!

When I took a tour through the tunnels beneath the Western Wall, there was a spot marked Holy of Holies. Well, they told me that it was the closest spot you could get to it, currently. At least the closest for prayer as you are not allowed to pray on the Temple Mount.

At that spot was a woman in fervent prayer. I pray that she has found or will find Messiah Yeshua. She looked like she meant business.

Anyway, I believe the Ark is under there somewhere and will be revealed in the Tribulation period.

Does he use a “Divining” rod to find relics?  There are only a few material items more “divine” in meaning than the Ark.

Israeli hydro-tech company invents “Miriam’s Well” to make water in developing countries drinkable:

The Alumor company has developed Miriam’s Well, a solar-powered off-grid water purification device. The system is based on ultraviolet LEDs that use just 4 watts of electricity to produce a liter of water every 30 seconds at a cost of .5 cents a liter. The lightweight device also contains a filter that needs rinsing just a few times a year. Powered by solar energy, the device does not require a power source. The system can purify water to US National Sanitation Foundation standards that have been contaminated by anything from feces to chemicals, and cause diseases ranging from cholera, diarrhea, and dysentery to hepatitis A, typhoid, and polio.

The new system obviates the need for professional maintenance, spare parts,  accessories, or materials such as chlorine. Alumor is hoping to sell its devices at cost through nonprofit organizations.  The system is focused on helping people in developing countries with clean drinking water.

Miriam’s Well (Be’erah shel Miriam) is the name of the spring that miraculously provided water and accompanied the Israelites throughout the 40 years they traveled in the wilderness. Though the well is not explicitly described in the Bible, it is derived from the narrative of the Children of Israel complaining about the lack of freshwater directly after Miriam passed away (Numbers 20). The Talmud notes that Miriam’s well was created at twilight on the eve of the first Shabbat after creation and gifted to the Hebrews in the desert.

According to the Midrash, the “well” was actually a rock shaped like a sieve. It would roll with them throughout their travels, and when they stopped, the rock would dig deep into the sand.  It was this rock that, after Miriam died, Moses hit in order to draw forth water once again.

Israel to classify Christian Citizens as “Jewish by Extension”:

The stranger who resides with you shall be to you as one of your citizens; you shall love him as yourself, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt: I Hashem am your God. Leviticus 19:34 (The Israel BibleTM)

Israel’s Census Bureau is amending its system of classification to include non-Jews who are not Arab to be included under the heading of  “extended Jewish population.” Until now, people who fall under this classification have been defined as “other.” This will include people who gained citizenship by marrying Israelis, or immigrated under the law of return, which extends citizenship to anyone with a single Jewish grandparent. Many such immigrants hail from the former USSR where nearly 1/3 are not Jewish according to Jewish law. Of them, many are practicing Christians. This will also include non-Arab Muslims, such as the Circassian community.

The new classification came as the result of an appeal by Intelligence Minister Elazar Stern (Yesh Atid) to the chief statistician and director-general of the CBS, Professor Danny Pepperman. Stern claimed that implicit in listing these people as other was the goal of converting non-Jews who immigrate. He argued that placing them in an “other” category could push them away.

“The current situation hurts immigrants who came to Israel under the Law of Return, and feel they are part of the Jewish people,” said Minister Stern. “Our goal is for these people to join the Jewish people, and not be separated from it.”

“If you ask these nearly half a million citizens if they are Jewish, a good half would say ‘yes,’ while the others would probably say, ‘I’d like to be, but I’m not allowed in.’” Eliahu Ben Moshe, a demographer at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, told Haaretz that the designation of “others” was “demeaning and problematic.”

Those who are classified as not “religiously Jewish” cannot legally marry in Israel nor be buried in Jewish cemeteries in the country.

I went to a Jewish baby naming ceremony and remember how the officiant spoke of always welcoming “the stranger,” since the Jews themselves were often strangers in strange lands. And that they should recall those olden days and ever be reaching out to others by being very hospitable.

Centuries-old Torah scroll retrieved from suspected Arab thief:

An Arab resident of Umm El-Fahm has been arrested following an undercover police operation to retrieve what is believed to be a stolen Sefer Torah (Torah scroll) hundreds of years old, of immense value.

The scroll originates from Baghdad, and the Arab was attempting to sell it for hundreds of thousands of shekels when his plans were foiled.  Another three men were arrested along with the main suspect, all residents of the north of the country.  The three additional suspects were interrogated on Wednesday and are being held in detention until Thursday.

Police have taken custody of the Sefer Torah. The operation was conducted with the cooperation of the Antiquities Authority.

Arthur possibly missed what I meant when I asked, “Water my chances?”  I was referring to a “water witching” kind of divination – the proximal discussion. Bent rods are employed, and Arthur suggested I not get bent.  He also suggested my being droll, i.e., “…amusingly odd or whimsically comical.”

The idea of a “stick” and broom-based “witching,” Arthur interjected instead.  Then as you saw, Yohanan’s playful derision wrapped me in effigy around that telephone pole, while alleging a completely unjustified / false record of unfit driving!  Sheesh!

Oh well, I guess boys will be boys.  Ya gotta love em.
