It has been brought to my attention by a rather observant sibling that I am “stingy” with my “likes”. Well, I would use the word “judicious” :) . Here’s why. As a moderator I have to read quite a bit of material and so at times I go through it rather quickly. Then, if the material is not disagreeable, I click “like”. But then, as I would go back through the threads I would notice that I missed some of the “likes” either by missing the post completely or the click simply did not take. I remember all too well on the previous iteration of Ritan a situation that developed from that, not to mention I have had some forumites complain to me about the apparent favoritism or dislike for other members by this mod or that. So, to ensure that I did not leave anyone out of make them feel picked on or targeted I decided I wouldn’t “like” anything unless it really moved me. Well, that hasn’t gone as planned and so I have decided to re-engage the “like” button again with this disclaimer: If I didn’t “Like” your post and you feel it was unjustified then I am leaving it to you to inform me. In almost all cases, it is simply because my clicking didn’t actuate to button properly and I didn’t catch it. Now, there are still going to be those cases where I disagree with a post and may choose to not “like” it. We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it. So, if all of a sudden you notice a lot more “likes” by me it’s not because I all of a sudden showed back up ( I never left), it’s because I have decided to use the little trouble maker again! ;)
If I have made you feel left out in the past then please accept my apology. It was never intentional.

Wow, a sibling said that to you? Well that wasn’t very kind. I noticed in these end days there are more rude people to have to deal with than ever before … so I wouldn’t take it to heart. I find when dealing with negative people … just drinking a simple cup of sereni-tea puts a person in a happy mood once again.
We appreciate all that you mods do and know you are all so busy. So glad you’re back posting and will be … um … “liking” posts again.

Hitting the like button doesn’t necessarily mean that you agree with all that was written. At least in my minds eye. I sometimes simply hit the like button to simply acknowledge when someone responds on a thread. Naturally it is impossible to agree with everyone all the time.
And when I have nothing to add, I simply acknowledge that it was read by me. Yohanan, better to admonished by anyone but the Lord!

Yohanan don’t feel compelled to poke that little black heart on my posts. I have thick enough skin to bear knowing your tacit, or even obvious, disapproval. And in heaven when I finally see you, you can be sure I won’t carry a grudge. Yet when I see your sweet little mug shot below a comment of mine, take comfort that I can, whenever needed, take another beta blocker to keep my heart from racing with delight.

LOL, I’d rather have someone disagree with me than ignore me. Just not too much of either, though.

Well, that’s it. It seems more like an ignore than anything. And I agree, TR, that it doesn’t necessarily mean agreement. More like a confirmation it was read.
Geri, I thought you preferred coffee to tea

Nope… my unwavering aversion to the roasted coffee bean into liquid remains the same
but this here drink is simply marvelous and with a little lemon and honey the cup becomes divine … especially with a few gingerbread cookies on the side.
You certainly can’t put those ingredients in a cup of coffee
Well, you can … but the drink wouldn’t be edible.

The thing is is that if you’ve never dipped a gingerbread cookie into a lovely cup of coffee then you do not know what you’re missing! mmmmmmmm

Well I’m 100% positive I’m not missing out on anything coffee related. A weird thing just happened … my finger instantly became numb and I can’t press the “like” button but I’m acknowledging I read your comment and totally disagree.
Perhaps Richard can come up with another button next to the black heart button … how about a check mark indicating people read the posts but disagreed with it?
Ok back to painting cement walls … oh how weird … the tingling numbness in my hand suddenly went away.

Yohanan,
You have my full permission to never like a single one of my posts.
Freedom is a wonderful thing!

Thank you, Joan, but I DO like your posts! I think I’ll take a chance on overlooking that little “like” button. It’s better to be in for it for missing it than to not use it at all.

Geri7, I couldn’t take the rejection on that other button! I would rather wait till I get to Heaven to find out that people hated me or simply tolerated me.
Like I tell my wife. When we first married I was a real jerk, and now she just finds me annoying! Isn’t God good.

Aww T.R you have nothing to fear if there was a “dislike” button available. We are all family and at least 95% of the threads members post on this board seem to be right on the money and agreeable so I can’t imagine anyone constantly pressing that “rejection” button. Personally … I would only use the “dislike” button for shallow stuff … like fish and coffee.
That’s it and most wouldn’t even take that personally because they don’t care of my opinion and they seem to have thick skin.
The way I see it … it’s all Yohanan’s fault for starting this crazy thread … I mean he’s got us all now so paranoid
with should we use the “like” button or not. And look at him … today he even “liked” his own post!
Are we going to follow suit and do the same or have regrets?!

Yohanan, you certainly have my permission to never hit that little black heart, I’m good
I am probably also very guilty of missing a tap or two at times.. oh well, it’s life in the fast lane for me….
I love a good cup of coffee, but with a few spoons of real cream, a hot cinnamon roll would do (GF of course). During this time of year, any holiday flavor creamer is awesome!!!!

To “like”, or not to “like”, that is the question:
Whether ’tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The “yeas” and “nays” of outrageous posting,
Or to use the mouse to approve a sea of typing
And by “modding” end it.You need to login in order to like this post: click here

One of God’s many attributes I believe is His sense of humor. He made a bunch of goofballs and then died for them!
Did I say thaaat?!

I do remember when the “like” button was eliminated for a short while and many were dissatisfied. Truly it’s wonderful for a least being able to acknowledge someone’s input on this forum.
Good to know the rules however, now I know I don’t have to like my own posts either. Just imagined God having a like button on His computer! Oy vey!

So here is some honesty… I almost always hit the little heart button so I can keep track of how far down the post I have read!!! Just sayin’… the memory is not what it use to be!
