We are a little late … but better late than never

      I didn’t know that …September 22nd was

Ode to all of you that LOVE …

      What is a snickerdoodle?

Prior to baking, the snickerdoodle dough is rolled in cinnamon sugar. Snickerdoodles are typically baked until crispy, but they can be baked at lower heat for a softer cookie.

Snickerdoodles are also commonly referred to as sugar cookies, but there are slight differences between the two.

In America they have been around since the late 1800s. They probably originated in New England and are either of German or Dutch descent.

The snickerdoodle cookie is most commonly thought to have originated in Germany, and its name is derived from the German word “schneckennudeln,” which means “snail dumpling.” A schneckennudeln is a German cookie that is crunchy and sprinkled with cinnamon.

Another popular theory surrounding the origin of the snickerdoodle cookie is that it is named after “Snickerdoodle the Superhero,” a folk hero who appeared in a variety of storybooks. The mystery as to whether the character was named after the cookie or the cookie was named after the character has yet to be solved.

Snickerdoodle cookies are made with eggs, butter, sugar, cream of tartar and flour.

Snickerdoodles are sprinkled with cinnamon and are thick with a crunchy texture, while sugar cookies are sprinkled with white sugar and are typically thin and soft in texture. The cinnamon in the snickerdoodle is balanced with cream of tartar, resulting in a flavor that is both sweet and spicy.

      – Fair Use –

Or how about white chocolate chip & macadamia nut cookies

And we can’t forget the hot white chocolate drinks

I’ve never had snickerdoodles nor solid white hot chocolate drinks … looking forward to these in eternity and beyond (other planets/galaxies … ?)

Funny list. :mail: Hope I don’t sidetrack the thread, too much.

The idea that cholesterol is bad for you is a lie. So, eggs are fine. :good:

In fact, eggs are God’s gift to us. 1/3rd protein, 1/3rd carbs and 1/3rd fat.

Cholesterol is essential for making a number of critical hormones, including the stress hormone cortisol. Cholesterol is also used to make the sex hormones testosterone, progesterone, and estrogen.

Ever wonder why the devil, who hates all human life, is actively working through his minions to demonize cholesterol? To lower fertility rates, for one thing.

You can read more about how cholesterol isn’t the problem but statin drugs are:

Yohanan, I love apple pies and turn overs.

My favorite is the French version with custard and a little apricot marmalade below the apples. It’s delicious.

You should visit the Big Apple sometime. It’s in Colborne, Ontario, around 2 hours drive from Toronto. I went there a couple of years ago. The moment I walked it, there was this delicious apple pie smell. It was amazing. They have lots of lovely stuff made with apple. There is also a farm nearby where you can pick apples.

An apple and apple pie lovers paradise.

      How about GINGERsnap cookies?

I’m sharing my all-time FAVORITE recipe from an old 1970’s

Better Homes & Gardens Homemade Cookies Book

      Oatmeal Gingersnaps :good:

      1  1/2 cups all-purpose flour
      1 cup sugar
      3/4 cup quick-cooking rolled oats
      1  teaspoon baking soda
      1 teaspoon ground ginger
      1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
      1/2 cup shortening
      1/4 cup molasses
      1 egg
      Sugar

Stir together first 6 ingredients and 1/4 teaspoon salt.  Blend in shortening, molasses, and egg; beat well with electric mixer for 2 minutes.  Form into 1-inch balls.  Roll in sugar; place 2 inches apart on greased cookie sheet.  Bake at 375 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes.  Let stand 1 minute; cool on rack.  Makes 3 1/2 dozen cookies.

(Note:  you can avoid “the roll in sugar” step before placing on the greased cookie sheet if you’re concerned about too much sugar – they are sweet enough).

Ok, so I might need to get some ideas and start my own business. How about a nice  restaurant with this stuff on the menu:

delicious spaghetti with meat sauce. Meat sauce is made of beef, Nutella, onion and some spices

Rice and chicken: chicken is mixed with white and dark chocolate bits, cinnamon sprinkled on top

For dessert; eggplants stuffed with tofu, drizzled with strawberry syrup on top

and then a nice cup of hot chocolate with apricot marmalade on top.

Geri is that you in your prime?!

In my wife’s family there is a four generational scowl amongst the woman captured in photos!

:mdrmdr:  Nope I was never a blond and I have a happy-go-lucky personality – 99.99% of the time always 😀 … unless someone eats my chocolate. 😉   Yikes, a four generational scowl? 🙃  Looks like you’re out numbered. B-)

I hate to see the look on this 8 yr old boy’s face when the stranger did this … B-)

I’m still laughing over the Hershey’s chocolate syrup bottle being used as a water bottle at the gym meme! If I can just remember to buy one! Lol

      Love the photos!

No recipe for catnip cookies. Too bad!

Yes Geri, no messing up with Spaghetti sauce. A friend of mind does such a good job. I might do it soon: saute onions, add beef, maybe a nice ragu pasta sauce, bay leaves, and lots of crushed garlic at the end. I think she puts either basil or oregano.

I think your friend puts basil in.  Oregano is a bitter herb … used on Pizza.

Not sure if you can get this in Canada. Do you have Walmarts or Costco’s?  Rao’s is the closest to homemade.  I use half a jar and freeze the rest for another meal.  It doesn’t pay to make the homemade sauce as long as I can purchase Rao’s.

What kind of kitty cat do you have?  I wonder if there are catnip cookie recipes online?

While I love dogs, I am a cat person at heart. They are mischievous creatures so I am glutton for punishment. ;-)

LOL .. I can just imagine … looks like these are plotting something really big

        WHAT?  This book

Are you ever tempted to do this to curb the hair shedding in the house and on the FURniture?   If looks could kill … this cat has it.   :mdrmdr:

We used to have a Himalayan cat and every summer would have to shave her because her fur would get too matted. She absolutely hated being combed or brushed so the alternative to this became a yearly tradition of shaving. I agree with that picture because our cat would get that same look after her “hair cut”.

:mdrmdr:  did the professional pet groomer have to tranquilize her in order to stay still?

Meanwhile this cat enjoys technology ….

But this pup seems to have lost interest because …

She was tranquilized but not by a groomer, unless you consider that I was the groomer! LOL
